Believe it or not, there are many foods that actually whiten your teeth as you eat them!

Did you know that what you eat and drink actually plays a huge role, not just in how white your teeth are, but also in your dental health as a whole? Previously, our dentist in Texarkana has gone over the worst foods for your teeth, as well as drinks that can stain your teeth. Today, however, we are going to be going over foods that can actually leave you with a whiter smile:

#1. Strawberries

Since strawberries are red, you may be under the misconception that they will stain your teeth, but actually, the opposite is true. Strawberries contain malic acid, which acts as a natural astringent and removes stains from your teeth.

#2. Onions

While you wouldn’t eat an onion to freshen your breath, they could help you keep the plaque at bay! Onions contain sulfur compounds that help to prevent the formation of plaque on your teeth. The one downside is that you can’t enjoy this plaque prevention benefit unless you eat onions raw!

#3. Nuts and Seeds

Whether you munch on almonds, sunflower seeds, cashews or walnuts, you’ll be doing your teeth a favor! Nuts and seeds are very abrasive, and they help to remove surface stains and clean your teeth as you eat them.
